After over a decade working in the same factory, the Ops Support role was a perfect opportunity to obtain breadth of experience in a short space of time. Working in both our domestic plants and supply chain, the role was focused on working closely with these teams to improve operational performance.

I began this role in a secondment/temporary position after stepping in for my [then] line manager whilst away on holiday. I carried out an 18 month period managing the Polish, Process and Weld area before successfully being offered a full time Production Manager role in 2017. Since then I have been the Production Manager for Inspection, managing teams in receipt inspection (after sending components out to coating suppliers), final inspectors (prior to sending out to customers), quailty assurance inspectors and proof measurement inspectors. Most recently, I have become manager of the team I used to work in. I am PL to the Makino grinding cell in the PMF.

After carrying out my apprenticeship with Rolls Royce, I was offered a job within a machining facility in the Turbines supply chain. I started as a machine operator machining turbine blades for aeroplane engines. The various different machine types were 5-axis Makino grinders, Agie Charmilles RoboForms and Jones and Shipman grinders. I spent most of this time within the development team, helping create new grinding programs and cut strategies for the Makino grinding machines.

I finished school at 16 and was fortunate to be offered an engineering apprenticeship with Rolls Royce in 2007. I spent under a year in the training school which taught us the basic machining in turning, milling, fitting and CNC machining. Fromt there I went out in to the Turbines business in both the Precision Machining Facility (where I currently work) and the Turbine Blade Facility to complete the rest of my apprenticeship on the production line.
