Worked with a small team, primarily just myself and a mentor, to develop novel methods for manufacturing composite structures for marine hydrokinetic (MHK) energy devices. The goal of the internship and the research was to leverage new technologies in additive manufacturing against well-known composite manufacturing methods to make composite parts and structures easier, cheaper, and faster for MHK energy developers. I spent time researching all of the newest additive manufacturing methods for all materials and then, with the guidance from my mentor, designed and developed our own application of the technologies. At the end of the summer, we successfully produced a scale model of our concept and learned many lessons along the way.
