About Jack Doyle

I am a London-based writer, academic, and policy consultant with experience in modern history-focused research and teaching, community organising, LGBTQ healthcare, and breaking news journalism. I recently completed my doctorate in First World War history at the University of Oxford, where I've taught and developed courses on warfare and gender studies.I run the Spectra Trans Health Advocacy Service, a leading London-based service for trans- and gender-nonconforming healthcare justice and support. I am a nationally recognised expert in British trans healthcare and have consulted the UK government, NHS, and large public and private organisations in developing policy and best practice. This work comes from my background in grassroots community organising, including co-founding Oxford Mutual Aid, one of the UK's largest on-going emergency food distribution responses to Covid-19, and local and national LGBTQ health advocacy. As a journalist, my news editing and feature pieces have been featured on OZY, Attitude, Education Week, and USA Today; I mostly write about 20th century history, international politics, modern warfare, LGBTQ issues, and terrorism. I was part of OZY's breaking news editorial team during the 2016 US election. I am currently a managing editor of the British Journal for Military History.I trained as a classical actor at Shakespeare & Company and the British American Drama Academy.
