· Working with John Hildebrand & Joshua Jones on passive acoustic data from the Canadian Arctic· Identifying & logging marine mammal vocalizations· Assistance in training 4 summer interns· Writing standard operating protocols for acoustic analysis of marine mammals in the Arctic· Running a neural network to detect and classify Narwhal and Beluga echolocation clicks

· Measured the propagation of acoustic signals across Atlantic ghost crab (Ocypode quadrata) legs recorded using non-invasive Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV) technology. · Used LDV software to analyze and interpret acoustic data from the LDV and excel to create a database.· Key results: Vibratory signal dissipates along the anterior surface of the legs, but not the posterior, indicating exoskeleton modulation of the signal. · These findings are critical to the understanding of hearing in these organisms and have opened larger questions about the importance of traveling waves as a mechanism for hearing. · A manuscript of this work is currently being written for which I am a co-author.

· Conducted photo analysis of long-term benthic recruitment surveys in Palmyra Atoll to understand and research ecological regime shifts in remote coral reefs· Processed and calculated data of percent cover of different macro & micro algae, coral, cryptic invertebrates, etc. using Photogrid and Adobe photoshop · Organized and analyzed all 2019 data from benthic survey tiles - overseen by Samantha Clements and Jennifer Smith

· Trained animals for cognitive research on the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncates) using match to sample testing · Assisted veterinary and trainer staff with operant conditioning of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions in a managed care setting· Performed husbandry tasks and sessions, including physical exams, hydration administration, assisting in veterinary procedures, and diet preparation· Implemented high-standard sanitation processes· These findings from the cognitive research are critical to our understanding of the behavior and minds of these animals, whose brains are larger and more convoluted than humans

· Taught 12+ students’ Bahamian ecology alongside Ami Adams, a long term educator and researcher at the institute, in a remote setting (Cape Eleuthera & Exuma Cays) on a 30’ pulling sailboat (no engine, just oars) for 3 months in the hot summer· Assisted in long-term coral reef health analysis inside and outside of the world’s oldest marine park - Exuma Land & Sea Park· Assisted in grouper (Nassau, black, tiger and graysby) behavior research inside and outside of marine reserve. Measured their alert and flight initiation distances when approached by a predator (spear fisherman)· Lead high school students in daily work, including, but not limited to, morning exercise, cooking meals, plotting courses to next research locations, triangulating location, daily boat cleaning, teaching students how to swim, providing emotional support, etc.
