• During my time at HCF I managed a small team within the wider Actuarial team, focusing on projects, product analysis and new product pricing. My responsibilities at HCF included the following:
• Pricing and long-term business case modelling for potential new products, including deep dive analysis into the different cost categories for the target market.
• Costings for a wide variety of benefit changes on existing hospital and extras products, including for the hospital reforms first announced in 2017.
• Profitability reporting, investigation and detailed analysis of cost inflation drivers.
• Competitor product and pricing analysis
• Net Present Value analysis using a lifetime value approach for sales channels, used as supporting materials in business cases and proposals.

• Working predominantly on Householders products, during my time at QBE my responsibilities included the following:
• Updating outstanding claims reserving models for attritional and catastrophe claims across several different systems; selecting factors, assumptions and drafting valuation documents.
• Establishing, updating and documenting regular reporting requirements
• Improving existing processes and setting up new structures to reduce update time and user intervention.
• Pricing Analysis to support regular pricing reviews, multiple system migrations and to respond to individual pricing anomalies and requests.

• Over my time at ahm and subsequently Medibank, in an evolving role I had experience in a variety of different areas across the business, including:
• Performed the Membership and Financial Forecasts for the fast-changing ahm brand, and communicating the results to stakeholders. This included setting most assumptions and performing the analysis to support those.
• Technical Pricing for Private Health Insurance and Overseas Student Health Cover products.
• Outstanding Claims Provisioning for the ahm Brand, setting assumptions and presenting the results and supporting analysis to Finance meetings.
• Analysis and Net Present Value calculations across Marketing, Sales, Finance
• End to End SQL Server Data Warehouse table design, development and maintenance; from live system extracts through to summary reports and each step in between. Highlight was a policy level product profitability table.
