Strategic Analyst Intern
Tasked with building Hive User Defined Function (UDF) that enables efficient customer engagement classification. Built the UDF in Java using a Poisson distribution and integrated with Apache Hive to leverage parallelism in Hadoop MapReduce framework and improve SQL querying capabilities. Decreased classification runtime from 1+ hours to a few seconds.Built a random forest model to uncover most predictive attributes of a customers propensity to opt into "mini tier" plan. Used synthetic minority over-sampling technique to balance dataset, and 6 ML techniques (RF, Chi Square, RFE, etc.) for voting-based dimensionality reduction (460 to 14 features). Built and tested 5 different models (logistic regression, neural networks, random forest, naive bayes, graident boosting), of which random forest performed the best at 90% accuracy and 86% opt-in TPR.
