Roles and Responsibilities:• Develop the Port Macquarie Hastings Council Coastal Management Program• Project manage and supervise external consultants/contractors undertaking scientific, social and civil projects on behalf of Port Macquarie Hastings Council in the coast and estuary space.• Identify, prepare and submit grant applications.• Administer tendering process to engage consultants/contractor in accordance with Councils procurement policies and relevant legislation.• Provide technical advice and support to all Council sections on coast and estuary management.• Review, assess and condition Development Applications (DA) relating to coast and estuary matters.• Preparation of environmental assessment documents for coast and estuary projects.• Communicate and brief Councillors, State Government Agencies and the Community regarding Councils coast and estuary management projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:• Undertake routine public health inspections of public swimming pools, food businesses and skin penetration business to assess whether relevant legislative requirements are being reached.• Respond to a diverse range of environmental health complaints from the community and other government agencies involving waste, noise, air, and water pollution and complaints made against food and skin penetration businesses. • Undertake audits of residential onsite sewage management systems and subsequent approvals or orders.• Undertake environmental health referrals for development applications submitted to Council that have the potential to impact environmental health. This role involves attending pre-lodgement meetings with the applicant. • Undertake project management duties for large ongoing environmental health investigations that require subcontracted specialists such as large-scale remediation projects and detailed environmental site assessments. • Assist with the presentation of public health education campaigns such as food safety for school canteens and the legislative requirements of pubic pool operators and create information brochures for the public.• Maintain public health registers.

• Manage companion animals and articles in accordance with relevant legislative provisions and Council policies and procedures• Undertake regulatory enforcement duties• Monitor compliance with any lease agreements entered into by the Council• Investigate litter and illegal dumping complaints and implement proactive monitoring programs• Investigate complaints and prepare evidence to support fines enforcement or Court action• Undertake proactive activity to identify risks to the environment, public health and/or breaches of local government law and taken the necessary steps to remedy the situation

• Undertake environmental assessments from project design, to execution and delivery, including:o Preliminary Site Investigation (Phase I Assessment);o Detailed Site Investigation (Phase II Assessment);o Environmental Impact Statements (EIS);o Statement of Environmental Effects;o Modification of Consent Reports; ando Waste Classification Sampling Reports.• Develop Construction and Operational Environmental Management Plans• Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Licences (EPL)• Environmental sampling and monitoring (groundwater, surface water, air sampling and monitoring, noise and vibration monitoring, soil and sediment sampling)• Oversee remediation activities and operate remediation systems• Onsite secondments as an Environmental Representative for various construction projects • Supervise and coordinate various subcontractors and junior staff• Project management of various investigations including project milestones and budgets• Data management of scientific results• Preparation of proposals to win additional work• Field assistant in undertaking various flora and fauna surveys

• Undertake various environmental assessments for infrastructure projects;• Develop and undertake Environmental Audits and site inspections for waste facilities; and• Provide assistance in Bushfire Risk Assessments and Fauna and Flora surveys
