I work for the Neuropsychology service in the Clinical Health Psychology department. More specifically, I work in the community across Kirklees supporting people to rehabilitate after having a stroke. The roles and responsibilities of my role role include assessment of psychological needs, delivery of psychological intervention, and contributing to MDTs.

I decided to become a trustee at Star in October 2022 because I saw the amazing work which Star has already been doing to support children and young people and I wanted to help out in any way I can. Coming from a psychology background I see my role on the board as helping Star be as psychologically-informed and trauma-informed in their practice as possible, as well as helping out wherever I’m needed!

I worked for the Community Rehabilitation Enhanced Support Team (CREST) which is a regional community mental health service to help people live outside of more complex level 2 rehabilitation. The goal is to move people using these out of area services from inpatient settings and develop new lives nearer to home.My duties and responsibilities included assisting with psychological intervention with service users, assisting the team with formulation of service users, actively contributing to the MDT, fulfilling administrative tasks for qualified psychologists, and service evaluation.

My role was to conduct and assist with assessments for ASD and ADHD in children and young people aged 7-18. My additional responsibilities included report writing, delivery of psychometric assessments, interpretation of data, service evaluation, admin support and more.

My role at Manchester Mind was to develop and deliver a peer support service for young people aged 18-24 years old who were struggling with their mental health; this included an initial period of strategic thinking and project development, followed by key responsibilities such as conducting assessments with young people, recruiting and supervising volunteers, and monitoring the mental well-being and safeguarding of all those accessing the service. I helped people with their mental health everyday by providing people with a space to be supported on a one-to-one basis in addition to the group service, whilst reducing the barriers to accessing support.My additional responsibilities included delivering mental health awareness sessions to various external organisations and community groups, volunteering for the Listening Ear service providing one-to-one phone calls for people who needed someone to talk to and I helped run the switchboard.

It was my role to coordinate the young ambassadors; these were young people between the age of 15-21, who act as representatives of Young Manchester in their local communities and media platforms. My role involved providing training, supporting ambassadors' development and strengthening the relationships with communities, youth groups and young people across Manchester. I also had additional duties such as recruitment, organising events, delivering workshops, providing feedback to the board and conducting grant delegation, all whilst keeping young people at the heart of every process.

I provided support to people who have previously offended overcome any difficulties they may be facing and support them to reintegrate into society after sentences or help them with their probation license.

I was a mentor for the Children and Young Person’s service. I provided support to young people, aged 15-25, overcome any problems or difficulties they may be facing. Additionally, I took on extra responsibilities such as assisting with mental health awareness talks and training new volunteers.

My role was to promote social inclusion for the service users. Additionally, I provided emotional support for the people I was matched to; where they may not qualify for a social worker, there are mental health issues which needed addressing. My work was commended by Creative Support, as I was mentioned in their volunteer newsletter for my work with one of the service users.

I have worked part-time in various stores, to earn extra money during my studies. During my time at Next, I toke on numerous responsibilities beyond my role, such as, training new staff and organising staff when managers are not present.
