The Bay needed to refactor their retail technology to purge all systems of Credit Card PANs to become PCI DSS compliant. Concurrently, the company wanted to make the switch from a monolithic enterprise application based architecture to modern service technology and related architectures.As a consultant, I led The Bay’s efforts to become PCI DSS compliant and built their capacity to leverage service technology for their retail operations:* Collaborated with another Cognizant Architect to deliver an extendable service framework to house both initial services to encrypt, store and provide audit-able access to customer credit card numbers (PANs) and future services related to The Bay's retail operations nationwide.* Provided detailed design for core CCAS services allowing access to a single corporate encrypted store for credit card numbers and aliases for those PANs.* Coached offshore team on best practices service implementation, providing general guidance on use of open source software and specific expertise on Spring Dependency Injection and ORM design and implementation to allow the use of Spring and Hibernate in the construction of the core CCAS services.* Provided design documentation, code and detailed guidance for an onsite / offshore development team unfamiliar with Spring and Hibernate to implement core CCAS services and a SOFEA based web application consuming the CCAS and other services.* Defined and validated open source portions of the IBM-centric tech stack and educated management on the cost effective use of open source software within their larger environment.* Contributed agile practices including Test Driven Development and iterative time-boxed sprints to the SDLC delivered to The Bay.
