CurrentI am working as a School Learning Support Officer at Eden College, an alternative school run by Youth Off The Streets. My responsibilities include:Working with students who have additional needs and learning difficulties, conditions like ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia ect, as well as significant traumatic backgrounds.Planned and ran various creative activities to engage students both on my own and with other staff membersPlanned and organised excursions and outings for the students, including reaching out to the companies and locations involved, managing a budget, negotiating pricing and acting as the primary point of contact for the school.Maintained and organised various resources for the classroomMaintained and audited the school laptops, ensuring that they were in good condition and that all were present and had the appropriate chargers/accessoriesDid an audit of the chemicals present in the science storeroom, identifying what were present and locating, printing and gathering Safety Data Sheets for each one.Cleaning and maintaining storerooms, organising the resources within so as to be easily accessed and returnedDecorated and cleaned classrooms to ensure a sense of comfort, life and colour was present for the studentsManaged classes of students while the teachers were unavailablePrepared meals for the students, providing breakfast, recess and lunch when on dutyProvided emotional support during moments when students were highly dysregulated, using strategies to help resolve both high energy and low energy situations, then directing students to our school counsellors and youth workers to further manage the situationHelped plan adjustments for students with additional needsProviding individual and group support to students, in a 1 on 1, group and class setting.
