Work with operators and the manufacturing engineering team to improve processes in the shop. One major project I did was to study existing engineering drawings and facilitate the creation of a working fixture for foaming to significantly reduce company time and money. This was done in collaboration with engineers, operators, and the maintenance team. I also made work instruction and modified company standard work to reflect the changes in process. Another project I did was a time study on a popular machine to gather data about the process and present my findings. This led into an in-depth analysis of proper threading techniques, and an analysis of drawings to determine out method for threading. This culminated in me making a machine by hand using the threading principled I researched. Finally, I made custom templates to meet a need for insulation cutting by modeling them in Creo and writing programs for the punch press to have them made. Other responsibilities as a manufacturing engineering intern I had were attending team meetings every week to show progress on my projects and offer insight into other engineers projects and work daily with the operators to resolve minor issues that they would be having.
