I have been passionate about understanding how living things work and function since I was a child, and I am thrilled to still be pursuing that knowledge today. I became very interested in cell biology while working as an intern at the Celgene Corporation, where I was able to apply my knowledge of basic biochemical pathways to determine the mechanism of action of new drug candidates. My time at Celgene also affirmed my desire to pursue a PhD, so that I could one day ask my own questions and solve interesting problems in cell and cancer biology. I joined Arshad Desai's lab, focusing on how cells managed the dizzyingly complex process of cell division and how those processes went awry in cancer. I have contributed to the field of cell division research through multiple publications and acts of service. I plan to continue contributing to cancer biology and cell biology through eventually becoming a group leader in industry or academia.
