Serving ice cream is the hospitality equivalent of being a rock star. Everybody loves ice cream and an ice cream cart never fails to be the highlight of someone's wedding, birthday, office party, soiree, fundraiser or reason-to-mark-a-special-occasion event. I worked for Short Batch as an ice cream scooper for the last two years of my Bachelor of Laws. Never before had I, and I probably won't again, work a job as fun as this. Short Batch is a specialist in gelato and event catering, and the different ways in which a cart could value add to someone's event was insightful to see. Show less

It was rewarding to experience how fundamental an honest brand of customer service is to relationship building with customers. Wild Timor runs educational and development programs in Timor Leste. During my time there I experienced how willing our customers were to become a part of our journey in helping the Timorese. I would like to think that I was able to contribute significantly in building this sense of community through honest, friendly and relationship focussed customer service. Show less
