Transportation Director
Current-Responsible for the recruitment and training of all school bus drivers, monitors, office staff and shop personnel.-Develop all school bus routes and schedules to ensure maximum safety and efficiency for the transportation of 2,400 students to 8 different schools.-Develop safety training seminars for all drivers and monitors.-Monitor and evaluate all drivers to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, policies and regulations regarding pupil transportation.-Develop school bus safety inspection schedule of 65 buses and 20 white fleet vehicles to ensure no bus goes unchecked preventing the unsafe operation of any school bus transporting students.-Inform and advise the school Superintendent concerning matters associated with the transportation of students, determination of canceling school due to inclement weather and deteriorated road conditions.-Determine students eligibility for school transportation and assignment of school bus route.-Communicate with parents and school administrators concerning student behaviors on the school bus that do not comply with school policy causing-Develop and monitor the operation budget for the Transportation Department and coordinate the purchase of school buses, contracted services and other expenditures associated with pupil transportation.-Produce and complete state mandated reports submitted to the school Superintendent for submission to the State Department of Education.-Review and approve all employee pay roll and leave requests.-Inspect shop facilities, school buses and other transportation facilities to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.-Evaluate all personnel, staff members and bus drivers on an annual basis and make recommendations to the Superintendent regarding hiring, promoting and termination of employees.-Communicate with outside organizations to deconflict school bus routing and schedule issues due to closed roads, railroad crossings and special traffic situations.
