Duties were: Route 309 AMD Facility – Twice daily, observe status, run/record pH tests at channel and Little Schuylkill River discharge, check status and fuel levels of fugitive pump and generator, ensure consistent treatment and operation of pebble lime silo, report results to Maintenance Superintendent, and recommend corrective measures when conditions warrant. Upon Maintenance Superintendent’s concurrence, order generator fuel, fugitive pump fuel, and prepare Requisition Forms to schedule pebble lime from supplier. Pennsylvania DEP Module 3 Requests to Add / Delete Contractors – Prepare requests relative thereto and transmit to DEP. Pennsylvania DEP Modules 8 (Monthly Water Monitoring Report) and 25 (Quarterly Water Monitoring Report) – Collect samples at the requisite points, prepare chains of custody therefor, and transport to Hawk Mountain Labs in Hazleton. Upon receipt of test analyses, record results on DEP’s forms. Prepare Quarterly and Annual Reports of the above and provide to DEP in accordance with Surface Mining Permit. Check Daily Production Reports and Time Cards to ensure accuracy of truck hours and overburden loads, and prepare Equipment Utilization Reports, both of which are provided to Vice President of Engineering for preparation of Production Reports. Inspect railroad crossings at Main Gate to mitigate potential derailment upon notification from Reading & Blue Mountain Railroad. Perform monthly Sedimentation Basin inspections, prepare reports thereof, and copy pertinent personnel. Effect liaison with DEP representatives on an as-needed basis at the direction of Vice President of Engineering, et. al. Track all LC&N surface property leases and maintain spreadsheet of details thereof. Provide public relations support by effecting liaison with various municipalities, legislators and/or civic/professional organizations.

Served as an NCO, Specialist 4 (E-4) Construction Surveyor and as an Artillery Surveyor/Forward Observer for the 1st Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 5th Artillery Brigade, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery. Located firing points and targets, and directed artillery fire from M-109 155mm self-propelled track-mounted howitzers. Also performed all phases of surveying for many transportation related projects. Viet Nam Era Veteran with Honorable Discharge.
