While acquiring my bachelors of science in aerospace engineering I started to gravitate towards software applications, particularly with respect to control & computational dynamics. I was enrolled in a Master of Science in Autonomous Systems through the Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Colorado and was fulfilling classwork towards this masters when I decided to accept a job at Seagate to further my software experience as a machine learning engineer optimizing electrical subsystems within hard disc drives. I have since changed teams to further my knowledge in embedded software on the dataflow and performance team.Tools: Programming: C/C++, Django, Flask, Git, Javascript, Linux, MATLAB, Python, T32, Unix/Linux Design: Altium, Ansys Mechanical/Fluent, Lauterbach Emulator, SolidWorks Signal Analyzing: Mixed Domain Oscilloscopes (MDO), Differential ProbeProjects: Boeing 787 Trade Study (AAA) Rocket Trajectory Simulation (MATLAB) GOES-R Satellite Radiator Design (MATLAB) Quadcopter Closed Loop Linearized Response Simulator (MATLAB) Infrared Depth Map (RGB-D) Facial Recognition (Python) UAV Deployable Ocean Drifters (C)

Senior Thesis - Uav Deployable Ocean DriftersUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Sep 2018 - May 2019Boulder, Co, UsDesigned UAV deploy-able ocean current tracking devices that are currently being utilized to better understand ocean currents in the Gulf of Mexico to mitigate future disasters such as the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.Critical design elements included weight restrictions of UAV and data transmission duration. My role as the lead systems engineer was to design, integrate, and test a GPS tracking system incorporating an electrical power regulation circuit with data compression software to minimize power during location data transmission.GPS Tracking System / Power Regulation Internals: STM32 Nucleo microcontroller Iridium RockBlock 9603 Transmitter NEO-6MUblox Receiver UART Serial Communication / RS-232 Protocol -
Infrared Depth Map Facial Recognition Software ProjectUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Oct 2018 - Oct 2018Boulder, Co, UsFacial recognition algorithm developed for RGB-D cameras to test viability of using infrared depth sensors for computer vision techniques in complete or semi-complete darkness.Algorithm utilized SVD (singular value decomposition) to extract the top N singular vectors to span basis of the reduced subspace. Faces were then identified by projecting the new image and finding the face that minimized the cost function. A comparative analysis between gray-scale and RGB-D values showed mirroring accuracy (+95%), exemplifying this method to be a viable substitute. The SVD method was used in lieu of more accurate ML methods due to the diminutive available RGB-D data to train the algorithm on. (RBG-D and grey-scale data for 12 faces each with 51 orientations). -

Design Workshop AssistantUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Sep 2017 - May 2018Boulder, Co, UsDesigned workshops to incorporate fabrication such as machining, woodworking, and 3D design for students to learn practical engineering skills. Collaborated with faculty on long-term projects. One such project - I designed a pneumatic skateboard press using SolidWorks, structural analysis, and estimated the bill of materials. This press was then built and used for a create-a-skateboard-from-scratch workshop for students . -
Satellite Radiator DesignUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Mar 2018 - Mar 2018Boulder, Co, UsDesigned a radiator for a Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-R). Design requirements included limits on maximum power output, operational and survival temperatures for electronics, orientation, orbit, and infrared back load. Aligned surface emissivity and absorptivity characteristics to real surface treatment, optimized radiator surface area, and calculated heater power as a function of solar flux throughout the satellite’s yearly orbit. -
Rocket Simulation Competition - 2Nd PlaceUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Mar 2017 - Apr 2017Boulder, Co, UsSoda bottle rocket simulation to real flight accuracy competition hosted by the University of Colorado's Aerospace Engineering Department. Received second place for most accurate MATLAB simulation, with all three real life flights landing within a standard deviation of the projected error ellipses. The thrust and the overall trajectory was modeled by converting the thermodynamic and kinematic governing equations into first order differential equations and solving them at discrete time steps using an adaptive 4th and 5th order Runge-Kutta method. The coefficient of drag of the soda bottle was calculated in an eiffel wind tunnel. The stability of the rocket was adjusted in the wind tunnel by measuring the distribution of pressure. The projected error ellipses for the estimated trajectory of the rocket were calculated by incorporating a Monte Carlo simulation that accounted for small variations in parameters taken about Gaussian distributions. -
Boeing 787 Trade StudyUniversity Of Colorado Boulder College Of Engineering & Applied Science Jan 2016 - Feb 2016Boulder, Co, UsSensitivity analysis of a Boeing 787 with specific mission outline of cruise speed, cruising altitude, range, takeoff/landing altitude, passanger loading, and additional cargo. The sensitivity analysis looked at modifying payload, range, loiter duration, engine, runway, and specific fuel consmption using AAA software and generalized the affected flight parameters.
