The construction industry is often underserved from a technology standpoint. With 20+ years working in IT and consulting, my goal is to modernize the technology at Wanzek Construction in my role as the Vice President of Information Services. In 2020 alone, our team deployed 31 different technology projects, including new solutions for safety, project controls, including quantity and time collection, and telematics across our large fleet of owned and rented equipment. By taking a mobile-first, cloud-first approach, we’re getting modern, integrated solutions into the hands of our people, from craft and labor in the field to support services to executive leadership. The real impact multiplier is our business intelligence platform, delivering timely information through a single pane of glass. Just like driving a car, it’s important to glance at the mirrors, but focusing on what’s ahead is critical. Predictive analytics is the vehicle to get there.I first became interested in the technology field when I was young and would spend time tearing apart computers, VCRs, and other electronic devices to learn about their components. I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with new technologies and took that interest to Microsoft where I created and led an infrastructure management team, which owned capacity forecasting, provisioning, optimization, and cloud adoption for 6k servers (on-premises and Azure) supporting systems that process $60B+ in revenue per year.I see nothing but growth and opportunity with #TeamWanzek, and technology is a key piece that will help us #BeTheBest. It's one thing to be a good construction company and build well, but it’s another thing to leverage technology and data to keep our people safe and make us more efficient. This sets us apart from the rest of the construction industry.
