New locomotive builds were fully overseen from the start to finish. Numerous steps including quoting, design and process planning had to be done prior to the start of the locomotive. All teams surrounding the build had to be given their documentation regarding the new build in which I created prior to the start date. During the build, floor issues were assessed and resolved while being in constant contact with all manufacturing teams. The final steps were to follow up with any modifications or late changes and review what was done for future locomotives.

This position consisted of aiding in the design of 4 new locomotives while tailoring the specifications to the constraints and capabilities of manufacturing. Numerous manufacturing methods had to be considered including root cause analysis, cost efficiency and LEAN manufacturing. Design changes had to be tracked and communicated to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Safety and Sourcing.

I assisted in designing lighting fixtures and complete Bills of Materials for fixtures with limited oversight. In order to do this, I had to openly communicate with floor workers to acquire a complete knowledge of machines.
