Briefly stated, my role in the Veterans Space is to find or help to develop opportunities for Veterans in our VA Pittsburgh Health Systems Homeless Programs and connect Veterans to those services. This may take the form of developing jobs with Veteran friendly employers, sharing information about training programs to fill employer needs, or identifying resources to help a Veteran get to a job. If it helps our Veterans develop an income stream, it is in my interest zone.Day to day, I find myself coordinating service delivery to Veterans from internal VHA providers...connecting the dots...and referring Veterans to the most logical resources to meet their needs in the local community, whether federal, state, county, city, local, private, or public. I emphasize connecting Veterans with the best providers in the most efficient manner.The rest of my time I spend cultivating new resources and maintaining relationships with existing providers...developing and maintaining the network.

Provided case management services to Veterans with "Significant Barriers to Employment" to overcome or minimize the impact of those barriers on their vocational pursuits.. While I primarily referred Veterans with underlying social, emotional and/or medical needs to the service providers who could best assist them, I provided direct assistance in helping clients to secure employment.Direct assistance included vocational assessment, resume writing assistance, job searching and matching, direct referral to employers, and ongoing support to Veterans achieving employment.
