I am a BSc Honors Civil Engineering student at Ulster University, Jordanstown. I have completed my first year at Ulster University and have 3 years left to finish, the third year out of my four years there being a work placement year. I intend to study on to a Masters degree once I have achieved my Bachelors degree, however, at this point in time, I am unsure what I would like to specialize in.In an attempt to gain some hands on engineering experience, I got a summer placement with Graham Construction. The project I am currently working on is the A6 Bypass Dualling from Randalstown to Castledawson. On this project, Graham are working alongside Farans Construction and are managed by AECOM. Since starting, I feel as though I have learnt a vast amount which I may have struggled to understand without experiencing it.Outside of work, I throw the javelin for Northern Ireland and Ireland Athletics. My experience in athletics has taught me that success is not given, but earned and I apply this same mindset to my working life. I have also played on the Ulster Rugby Schools side from under sixteen age group to under nineteen. Unfortunately, I have not played rugby since my time in the under nineteen squad due to a serious ankle injury. However, my time playing rugby taught me the importance of people coming together and working together to achieve success.
