As a Senior Investment Analyst, and member of the Deal Team and Credit group, I am responsible for investment origination, analysis and support of capital raising efforts. While I predominantly cover the Airlines/Aviation and Maritime sectors, ABL Corporation operates in five, Aviation, Maritime, Agriculture, Real Estate, and Botanicals.

Report directly to the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) and Head of Alternative Investments as the first person hired to be a liaison between the investment and client service teams. Brought in as “Associate” and promoted to “Analyst” which is the next tier at Westwood within 10 months. Registered representative and a member of the Private Equity/Alternative Investment Committee. Support capital-raising efforts, fund due diligence, ad-hoc client requests, and general oversight/administrative work of the Westwood Private Funds. Focus primarily mainly on the growing alternatives business, working across all Wealth Management clients. Create client meeting materials, generate investment proposals/pitch decks, RFPs, DDQs, conduct equity research, business development, and work with outside business partners. Assist in the creation, implementation, and continuous updates of procedures for the firms’ alternative investments, and client onboarding, and assist with developing corporate strategy at the parent and subsidiary levels. Learn and continue to, all investment products and strategies offered, covering a multitude of strategies, exposures, and vehicle types. Assist in oversight of Westwood Wealth Coach. Assisted management during the acquisition of Salient. Developed and implemented efficient and effective processes for our client service and investment teams. Oversaw and organized clients’ private and alternative investments. Conducted equity research as needed and worked alongside and in support of our head traders and portfolio managers. Prepared materials for and attended client events. Completed asset valuations and pricing valuations. Worked closely with SMA, Trust, and Pension accounts. Assisted with investment, strategy, and allocation reviews. Awarded Westwood Employee of the Month.

As a licensed stockbroker, responsible for executing orders and discussing trades with retail clients. Responsible for trading clients’ securities (stocks/ETFs, mutual funds, derivatives, fixed income) orders quickly and accurately. Spoke with clients regarding their asset allocation, investment strategies, and financial plans, and worked with leveraged products. Assisted clients with managing their assets to meet their needs. Fulfilled customer requests.

Being a leader in a fraternity, I manage ten other chair positions. My responsibilities include upholding our constitution, identifying community service opportunities for the chapter, planning fundraising events, managing house assets and working in a both individual and team settings with other campus leaders.

In this client-facing position, my primary responsibilities were generating ideas to attract to new clientele and implementing those strategies. I utilized various types of software (I.e. ECRM, Salesforce) to build my understanding and knowledge of the insurance industry. In addition, I honed my sales skills by practicing different techniques such as consultative selling and SPIN selling.

This internship position was my first exposure to the Financial Services industry. I worked directly with financial advisors which provided an introduction to the world of financial planning and investments. This exposure provided practical insight and valuable education.
