Battelle Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Developed and directed the demonstration of technologies and systems to minimize or treat nuclear and hazardous waste streams and contaminated sites. These technologies included in situ heating, in situ vitrification, bioremediation, and melter vitrification. Several technologies emerged and achieved full-scale application. Provided technology support to DOE programs and projects at Hanford WA, West Valley NY and Savannah River SC. Transferred technologies to these locations, including the joule heated liquid-fed ceramic melter, and delivered the actual prototype melter to the West Valley Demonstration project. Managed and grew the waste management business at PNNL from a single section to a department, and finally the Waste Technology Center reporting directly to the Laboratory Director.
