South Fulton Kiwanis Club, elected President in 1982, and 1983.; Served as panelist on WSB’ two hour television program “Atlanta At The Crossroads” in 1975. Purpose was to assess Metro Atlanta’s current strengths and weaknesses and to offer assessments and proposals on developing it’s strengths to facilitate future growth. Appointed by Fulton County Commission to Fulton County Housing Board of Directors in 1979, elected Chairman in 1980. Oversaw the implementation of new public housing projects, HUD programs, worked with local and national government leaders to acquire necessary funds to develop approved programs, and approved all third party contracts for the purpose of implementing the Housing Authority’ programs. (This was a civic duty with no financial compensation)Selected as keynote speaker for the annual meeting and dinner of the South Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, 1980.Member of Fulton County Schools Vocational Education Advisory Committee.Co-President with my wife for the S.L. Lewis Elementary School PTO for two terms, 1978, and 1979.Selected as an Outstanding Young Men of America in 1975. Composed of representatives of LaGrange College, County Department of Social Services, Medical representatives, United Way, Red Cross, and several churches in Troup County, Georgia. I have also served as Guest Lecturer in Russia in University English courses for students learning to speak English. I have traveled to Russia, Georgia, and China on speaking and business purposes.
