In this role, I was primarily focused on helping deliver the early stages of the National Lottery Heritage Funded Native North Tyne project. I performed several tasks, including:• Liaising with external stakeholders in tourism sector to determine how they could help spread information about the project or otherwise be involved with it, and assisting with general queries.• Using maps to identify suitable locations for ark sites for white clawed crayfish.• Writing plans for volunteers to install ecological hazard warning signs near fords in vulnerable watercourses.In addition to directly working on the Native North Tyne project, I also participated in other tasks, including:• Assisted the farms liaison officer to investigate sediment releases by farms in Redesdale, including taking part in site visits and formatting and proofreading the final report to the Environment Agency.• Successfully completed an application for a £3000 ‘Farming in the Protected Landscape’ grant to fund the collection and laboratory analysis of water samples from one of the farms visited. I performed the sample collection, delivered the samples to the lab, and prepared a report on the results.• Used GIS to create a map of sewage outflows in the Tyne catchment, sorted by the type of owner, for future reference when planning any projects that may be affected by the presence of local sewage.
