My placement year in a lab for therapeutic drug research, was highly rewarding and developed my skill-base. I worked in the Division of Signal Transduction Therapy, within the school of life sciences. Rotating between roles throughout the lab, adaptability was vital to ensure I could perform each new task quickly and efficiently. My roles were predominantly lab-based, working as part of a team of highly qualified scientists, creating a range of vital pharmaceutical reagents and products for both internal and external research bodies.Responsibilities included:- Independently and confidently carrying out complex scientific methods simultaneously with great attention to detail, to produce high quality reagents. - Self-managing and organising my workload to ensure that the reagents and products were completed by a given deadline. - Regularly analyzing and comparing my generated products to ensure they met the quality and standards required.- Supervising visiting college students around the lab, involved teaching complex scientific methods and theory to those with little prior knowledge.- Scheduling weekly meetings with my supervisors to present my results and discuss how I could improve my work in the future.- Updating laboratory databases with information regarding finished products, speeding up access for other orders.

Wimbledon Office

I spent the summers of 2012 and 2013 working as an administrative assistant.Responsibilities:- The transfer of company paperwork into a digital format, requiring being taught how to use the new software. - General administration and office tasks.
