As an on call firefighter for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service I provide on call cover at evenings and weekends. The role involves responding to a variety of incidents including fires, road accidents, water rescues and supporting other emergency services, all utilising a range of skills kept up to date with continual professional development, weekly training and study. In addition to my basic duties of incident response I also visit local Businesses to give fire safety advice, and conduct Safe & Well visits as part of DFRS’s prevention strategy, visiting at risk residents to provide fire safety advice, whilst also supporting people to improve their health and wellbeing via signposting and advice, under the ‘Make Every Contact Count’ approach. I also look after my station's social media, and station purchasing, as well as being the station representative for the fire fighter's charity.

As part of Derbyshire County Council's 'Services for Schools' team, I provided general assistance to schools and service providers within Derbyshire County Council. Additional duties included upkeep of the traded services web portal and creation of newsletter content. The role relied upon good customer service, and gave great insight to services throughout the council.

Working for Essex Music Services I was responsible for the county council’s musical instrument hire scheme. The scheme provided high quality instruments at heavily subsidised rates to children and schools throughout Essex. I actioned the digital transformation of the scheme from an entirely paper and postal based hiring system, to a streamlined online solution. Working with stakeholders I was able to help design a web based solution to vastly improve customer experience, record keeping & GDPR compliance, accurate reporting, and overall efficiency. I also championed progression of the music service to improve their offer to the young people of Essex, specifically for ‘non-formally’ educated children. Using my technical experience I drove a successful pilot scheme of ‘music technology packs’, providing recording equipment to enable children to create music at home using tablets and phones.Additionally I built relationships across the council and schools to aid logistics, and provided technical support to the rest of the music service at live events and workshops.

As a Music Technology Sales Consultant for DV247 - the UK’s leading educational music equipment supplier, I developed strong relationships with suppliers and customers in order to drive consistently increasing sales, whilst providing exceptional customer service. My customers ranged from hobbyists to corporate clients, churches, and schools, from all over the UK and overseas.Initially hired to sell and showcase DV247’s orchestral student instruments, I soon specialised in music technology and DJ equipment sales, going on to help set up the company’s DJ equipment showroom, and represent the educational sales team at the Music Education Expo. Working in a combined office and busy retail environment required a disciplined use of time and technology in order to cater for incoming face to face and telephone sales, whilst also being available to provide technical advice and after sales support for returns, repairs and delivery issues.
