Primarily employed to support matters relating to digital connectivity, my role has expanded to include a number of key policy and strategy areas.Key projects include:- Local strategic oversight of the Reaching 100% national connectivity programme. Working closely with Scottish Government, third-party stakeholders, as well as local and national telecoms operators, I lead the promotion and demand stimulation of the Reaching 100% programme and associated Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme. This role involves a high level of direct community engagement with residents, businesses and communities across Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire, as well as working closely with operators and suppliers. Success in this role has resulted in Aberdeenshire having the highest uptake in these national programmes, with considerable impact for rural communities.- Leading the Digital Inclusion workstream for Aberdeenshire Council, through chairing of the Digital Inclusion Group. In this capacity, I am responsible for working with various Council services, to develop future strategy for digital inclusion, allowing Aberdeenshire Council to meet its equality outcomes. Delivery Manager - North East Region

Scotland, United Kingdom

As Delivery Manager with ENABLE Works, within ENABLE Scotland, I had full strategic and operational control of all employability support services across Moray, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross. Key projects in this role included: - Creation, development and delivery of the 'All in Dundee service'; a Third Sector Consortium led by ENABLE Works, delivering employability support services in partnership with Dundee City Council, and Scottish Government. Set-up in 2019, my role as Delivery Manager was to manage the Consortium Partners, and work with internal and external partners to create impactful services for unemployed individuals in Dundee. Thanks to the success of the Consortium, I was able to secure further funding to grow the service, and bring added value to Dundee City Council.- Through close working with Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire Councils, I created the 'All in Aberdeenshire' service, delivering a true supported employment model in the region, targeting a gap in local employability provision. Through this service, ENABLE was able to best support individuals with disabilities and/or other complex barriers to work, and achieve real success in sustainable employment terms, exceeding national averages for similar services.- Establishment of a true IPS (Individual Placement Support) Service in partnership with NHS Tayside, delivering a successful supported employment service for individuals with severe and enduring mental health barriers.- Creation of a lasting partnership with D&A College, delivering courses for neurodivergent individuals to explore the world of digital, and explore education and employment opportunities within the ever-growing sector.- Expansion of additional services, including: Employability Fund; Fair Start Scotland; Stepping Up; ESF First Steps; Parental Employment Support Fund; Young Persons Guarantee.

Working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances, I delivered a tailored, personalised and effective service to everyone I worked with, regardless of the barriers they may have had. Supporting every participant into a working future, I offered expertise in key areas including: Confidence building; anxiety management; mental and physical health support; exploring job goals; vocational profiling; skills identification; CV development; application support; interview skills; employer engagement; and in-work support. I also supported people in targeting the hidden market, and finding opportunities through networking, and word of mouth. Other aspects of my role here included Strategic support for the further development and improvement of the service, implementing new processes and policies, and tracking trends to identify future opportunities.Part of my role also included operational oversight and strategic support of the Dundee Pipeline contract for ENABLE Scotland, in partnership with Dundee City Council and the Wise Group. This employability contract was similar to Fairstart, where ENABLE was placed to best support those participants that had a disability. I also provided operational support to the First Steps contract and the EF Stage 2 & Stage 3 Employability courses in Aberdeen City & Shire, which aim to support those individuals furthest removed from the workplace. In addition to this, I contributed to all targets and planning for the North East region of ENABLE Works.

Employment Advisor

Aberdeen, United Kingdom

Joining Ingeus in 2015, my role as an Employment Advisor in October 2015 saw me working in partnership with the Department for Work & Pensions, and the Jobcentre. Ingeus delivered the government's Work Programme, where we worked hard to move unemployed clients into tailored, sustainable employment. My role was driven by the full client journey, involving the use of a multitude of techniques and methods to develop and coach clients into their dream jobs. Delivering various workshops focussed on confidence & assertiveness, exploring job goals and identifying strengths. Alongside the soft-skills approach, the hard skills that I have developed expertise in, are the areas of tailored and unique CV development, and getting client's recognised in the labour market. On top of this, I specialise in interview skills & techniques, and the best way to find and apply for positions of employment in all manner of industries in Aberdeen, and the wider UK.A strong focus on people development, coaching, confidence building and skills development, made this job a perfect fit for me. I am passionate about people achieving their full potential, and being a part of that journey.Other key areas I played a part in, included Employer Engagement, which involved the creation and maintenance of working relationships with employers across Aberdeen City & Shire, to best support some of my clients into work. I also carried out a secondment as a Performance Excellence Representative, for which my passion for service and process was hugely beneficial. This position gave me the opportunity to audit and assess various aspects of Ingeus services, allowing me to identify opportunities and formulate action plans to improve ways of working. I was also responsible for collation of office performance, tackling accurate forecasting, and continuously action planning to ensure all Key Delivery Indicators were met, and exceeded where possible.

Store Manager

Aberdeen City & Shire

After being welcomed into the "Best High Street Company to Work For 2013", and completing my 12 week training, I was appointed into my Store Manager role in the Holburn Street branch of Iceland, Aberdeen, in November 2013, just in time for Christmas. Being able to hit the ground running, my focus on team development, embedding of correct processes and precise planning ensured that Christmas '13 was the most successful seasonal trading period for that store to date.I was appointed to run the Fraserburgh store in March 2014, where I stayed until August 2015. In my time at Fraserburgh I focussed largely on training and development, building on the strengths of my team to encourage progression and nourish ambition. Excellent succession planning ensured high team engagement, and extraordinary team buy-in in setting up perfect processes. Stockloss issues that were inherent in the store required serious, and in depth investigations, which I was able to conduct and in this process create best practices in the tracking and accuracy of stock levels. After moving to the Peterhead store in August 2015, my main focusses were on recruitment and development, due to an absence of a top team, and the creation and embedding of store processes.

Store Manager

Aberdeenshire

As a Co-operative Food Store Manager, I was trained through the industry leading "21st Century Leadership" training programme. Having developed my own strategies and techniques in leadership, I felt I became an engaging yet uncompromising leader of both my store colleagues and other teams. In my 4 years in management with the Co-operative, I ran a £35k/week turnover store of 16 employees to financial success. I also multi-site managed multiple stores with a total turnover of over £100k/week and a total of 70 employees. In my position as a multi-site manager, all stores under my supervision improved in both financial performance, as well as becoming happier and more engaging places for colleagues to work. In a wider role, I also played a key part in the training and development of store colleagues in terms of both procedural training and character development by being part of a 3 person team who designed, created, and implemented a brand new training strategy that was roled out to over 50 Co-operative Food stores. Our new training systems were seen to be a great success due to their foolproof, yet adaptable, makeup. I am also very proud of the fact that several colleagues I trained using my strategies, have gone on to move up the career ladder within the Business, into management roles.Latterly in my role, I also played a key part in the recruitment and development of an entire new team for a brand new store, as well as playing a part in the preparation and launch of the new store. The feedback we recieved for the launch of the store and the development of the team was outstanding, and we considered it to be a perfect launch.Within my 9 years at the Co-operative, my main purpose was always to please my customers, and make sure they enjoy their shopping experience. Equally, I am always focussed on my team. I always look to develop, challenge and coach my team to make sure they enjoy their work, and are always improving. After all, stagnation = failure.
