As a member organisation, I support SPC’s member countries in identification, development, design and implementation of Adaptation Fund (AF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF) projects and support the Climate Finance Unit to strengthen the role of SPC as an accredited entity and delivery partner in the region. As an advisor, I work closely with National Designated Authority personnel in our member countries and ensure that country ownership is paramount in our portfolio. In Pacific communities, it is essential to employ bottom-up approaches for long-term sustainability. Beyond my external focus, I provide strategic advice to the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Programme to support SPC's integration of climate change actions across SPC's five technical divisions (Fisheries, Geoscience, Land Resources and Health).

In this role I supported the coordination and quality enhancement of AF, GCF and GEF project designs as well as annual progress reporting. Projects focused on climate resilience, adaptation, mitigation, value chain development, and rural finance to support smallholder agricultural systems. I am proud to have supported projects across all five of IFAD’s regions.

Carried out compliance reviews assessing Member Association's (MA) alignment with IPPF standards of responsibility, to ensure continued accreditation to IPPF membership. Through the process, IPPF ensures MA's go above and beyond internationally accepted best practices. Lessons learned synthesised from reviews then informed annual tailored capacity building initiatives, streamlining training programs and interventions to ensure IPPF achieves maximum impact. Beyond this, I supported the Governance Director in supporting governance issues across the MAs.

Working in the Business Programme, I support the team to manage relationships with key Private Sector partners. Through provision of high-quality environmental data and information we were able to guide partners in extractive industries to enhance environmental safeguards across their operations and reduce negative impacts on the environment.

Design and implemented research investigating institutional barriers to the effective implementation of land restoration initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa. Developing a new method for identifying the connectivity of institutional inefficiencies to help target adaptive management efforts.

Through this assignment and in partnership with the World Food Programme’s (WFP) Vulnerability and Mapping team I carried out data analysis and assessment of El Nino Southern Oscillation trends across 30 IFAD countries. The output of this was 30 country reports that informed IFAD’s Country Strategic Opportunities Programmes for the IFAD 11 funding cycle.

Carried out a project evaluation on the impact of biodiversity and water infiltration enhancement practices in IFAD's Community Based Integrated Natural Resource Management Project (CBINRMP) in Ethiopia to determine the biophysical impacts of project implementation. I carried out a range of ecological techniques. Primarily, focusing on camera trapping and kill sight analysis of apex predators. This data was used to assess the distribution of predators and determine the effectiveness of Anatolian guard dogs in reducing the predation of livestock surrounding the Namaqua National Park. I additionally learnt telemetry, small mammal trapping and vegetation survey techniques. A key aspect of this position was the logistical organization of mobile field camps within the 500km2 research area to ensure that fuel usage and equipment utilization was maximized at the lowest cost.

I implemented and maintained an intensive 1km2 cell camera trapping grid in community buffer-zone to determine tiger densities in the area to inform the Global Tiger Recovery Programme. Further to this I supported human wildlife conflict damage assessments for a compensation scheme and provided capacity building support on biogas installations.

Over a winter season, I catered for and managed a chalet of 10-16 clients daily. In this role, I learnt how to stick to a strict budget and organise deliveries in logistically appropriate ways to maximise the efficiency of my chalet. Further to this, the role taught me an abundance of valuable skills related to people management.
