In my role as Grade 3 Grade Level Leader, I am responsible for overseeing a team of five teachers and nearly 200 students, driving high-quality instruction and professional growth across the grade level. My work includes developing and implementing school-wide behavior management policies, designing schedules, and leading Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions that address key educational practices. I conduct regular teacher observations and feedback sessions, fostering an environment where teachers are empowered to grow as professionals and enhance their instructional impact.I actively analyze assessment data at both grade level and school-wide levels to make data-informed decisions that improve teaching and learning outcomes. I also contribute to internal reviews, focusing on identifying and addressing key areas to enhance educational quality across the school. As part of this job role, it was my responsibility to take groups of young children and young adults out on activities and ensure that they were run in an enjoyable, yet safe environment. Some of the activities included: Water sports; climbing; problem solving; archery and a number of offsite excursions. As a group leader, it was my responsibility to ensure the safety of all customers throughout the duration of their stay, make sure they made it to all of their activities, provided evening entertainment and dealt with any emergencies or questions they may have. My summer spent working as an activity instructor helped develop skills further than I ever thought and developed skills I didn't realise I had. Firstly, my ability to communicate with young people was enhanced significantly and that understanding the people you're working with and helping is critical if progress is to be made. Furthermore, the creativity required to work with young people and engage them successfully, encouraged me to think in new ways and discover a whole new way of communicating and delivering to young people. Finally, the responsibility given to me as a group leader helped develop key leadership skills, for example: empathy, communication, understanding the importance of shared leadership and how to collaborate and work well in a team.
