I am a graduate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Geography and a concentration in Geospatial Sciences and Technologies as well as a minor in History.While attending the University of Tennessee, I discovered geographic information science and was immediately hooked. I immediately became passionate about this modern day cartography that can be used in so many helpful ways. My courses in GIS, Python programing, and LiDAR showed me several ways to attack modern problems and find viable solutions using geospatial data. I was able to land an internship with the City of Maryville, TN and saw how GIS work is used everyday in local/state governments and was able to be apart of that. Some highlights of my experiences in this internship and college were using terrain data to create flood plain maps of my hometown Townsend, TN, using LiDAR data to locate possible historic structures in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and geolocating "In Memory of" stones/benches throughout the City of Maryville/Alcoa Greenways. After college, I began my career with Roadway Asset Services as a GIS Specialist where I currently work. My work has taught me many new skills outside of GIS such as data collection, analysis, and delivery. I love being able to work with a team to create a product and present my work to our clients. I have learned so much at RAS and am looking forward to continuing to do so everyday.
