  • Ryder Supply Chain Solutions

  • The Home Depot
    International Imports Senior Design Analyst
The Home Depot Jun 2018 - Dec 2018
    Atlanta, Georgia, Us
I worked alongside my senior design team with the International Imports department at The Home Depot (THD) in order to improve THD's decision-making capabilities and mitigate their supply chain's exposure to risk. We accomplished this by formulating a single dollar value specific to each route in the supply chain that accounted for the value of lead time, variability and cost. This was done by analyzing THD's databases and constructing a model that converted the historical lead time and variability data into a corresponding dollar value. This model allowed analysts to make immediate, apples-to-apples comparisons of routes that were better informed than before. The model was functional in Tableau, and included flex features such as the size of container shipped and the preferred destination port so that analysts could run a variety of hypothetical situations to prepare for potential system disruptions. When applied over the previous contract year's worth of data, the changes between which routes THD actually used versus what routes were recommended by the model totaled a potential savings of roughly $30 million while keeping a nationally diverse portfolio of both carriers and U.S. entrance ports.
  • Flex
    Industrial Engineer Intern
    Flex May 2018 - Aug 2018
    Austin, Texas, Us
During my internship I was responsible for redesigning the methodology used for calculating/projecting manhours for the production lines at Flex. I worked with other interns to first update the existing process maps and standards used for both machine and human processes. Once valid standards were established we developed an Excel macro that would return expected headcount based on the new standards as well as the product's volume and complexity. In addition, I participated in a Shingi Kaizen event in which my team aimed to improve efficiency of a production line by drastically increasing warehouse-to-production throughput. By changing the warehouse layout, implementing part labels, and standardizing the presentation of materials to the production line we were able to reduce the part picking process time by more than 50%.
  • Corelogic
    Flood Services Intern
    Corelogic Jun 2017 - Aug 2017
    Irvine, Ca, Us
During my internship with CoreLogic, I was responsible for researching, designing, and implementing an innovation-focused initiative for the Austin branch. I created a plan that focused on increasing employee participation and awareness in new product development. This plan included a several step process for developing and refining new ideas for quick, company-wide implementation. The initial trial for this process resulted in 40 submissions and 10 fully-formed ideas that were approved for corporate development. In addition to this primary project, I regularly attended and participated in meetings for both Green Belt and Black Belt Lean/Six Sigma projects. My work in these meetings focused primarily on the early stages of LSS project development, including variable definition, constructing control charts and identifying statistically significant differences, and determining the steps to take in improving the processes being looked at, primarily with Response-Surface Methodology. By the end of my term our Green Belt solution was projected to save roughly $100,000 annually.
  • Georgia Institute Of Technology
Airline Analysis Of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
Georgia Institute Of Technology Jan 2017 - May 2017
    Atlanta, Georgia , Us
Throughout this project I worked with a partner to analyze the delay and cancellation data at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to determine the most significant factors that effect delay/cancellation rates. We constructed control charts, using the normalized and seasonally adjusted data provided by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, on a number of factors (weather, security, etc). Furthermore, we broke down delays as they related to individual airline carriers (Southwest, Delta, etc.) to determine if specific airlines were disproportionately contributing to delays. Though we found all external factors to be in control, even when charted several ways (Cumulative Sum, R/S Charts), many smaller carriers such as Spirit and Alaska Airlines were out of control when charted. Finally, we created a regression model using all significant factors to provide a tool that allowed a rough estimate of how the choices of flight a consumer makes could affect their chance of delay/cancellation.
  • Independent Tutor
    Tutor (Private And Via Nhs)
    Independent Tutor Jan 2012 - Aug 2016
I worked with individuals both as a member of the National Honor Society and as an independent tutor on a variety of topics. While under my tutelage through the NHS I helped more than 20 high school students improve their grades in Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1/2, AP Caclulus, and many social studies courses. No student that I tutored in a course went on to fail the course, and on average their grades improved by just under a full letter grade. Independently I tutor frequently, mostly over the summers; my most common subject during these times is test prep and college admissions. The two individuals I worked with in spring/summer 2016 managed to not only raise their ACT score by 3/4 respectively, but were also admitted to MIT, University of Chicago, Rice, and Cal Tech.
