Develop and own a consistent approach to the development of new complex capabilities within the designated laboratories, leading key tasks such as Risk Assessment, FMEA , Improvement plans , DSEAR assessments and resolving operational issues, while calling in internal & external support services where required. Provide clear and consistent support to the Laboratories with equipment design, specification & maintenance of complex bespoke machinery.Support the Laboratory Teams where needed with project delivery & planning.Support and mentor Technicians on the job training and fault finding where needed. Maintain Laboratory H&S by ensuring best industry practice is identified and applied where required. Support the Laboratory Manager with Risk Assessments and Procedure generation where required.Engage with Project Engineers to ensure that the laboratory stays up to date with requirements of TWI members & technology road map.Be a focal point for laboratories capabilities, while highlighting areas needed for development / investment.Develop and maintain a Laboratory Capability Matrix which is visible to internal stake holders.Lead costing of non-standard proposals and inform the relevant section / group managers of the risk associated with them.Support TWI Laboratories and Sections where required with Testing requirements.Keep up to date with on-going legislation & further knowledge by attending Training courses / conferences where required.Work closely with TWI`s Chief Engineer to develop knowledge & safe systems of work & approval for the design and manufacture of complex environmental testing rigs.
