After traveling the globe for 4 years out of high school, I was lucky enough to experience working for a number of organic and conventional farms throughout the US and Europe. With 8 years in hospitality and venue management, at the age of 22, I returned to Australia with a burgeoning desire to reconnect with the food system. Bees became my vector of conversation, addressing the global bee decline through discussions on how and why I believe our food system is broken, and thus, Bee One Third was born. Starting from scratch, I started keeping bees in 2012, where I learnt to care for 8 beehives, all while working in local food focused venues throughout Brisbane. Within 3 years, my 8 hives had built to 85 and I followed my calling to become a full-time beekeeper. Today, Bee One Third cares for over 170 bee colonies across the greater South East and is partnered with 25 micro, medium and global businesses to help promote pollinators and rebuild our local bee populations.
