I am a development scientists at Oxford Nanopore, where I work to improve the biological components of our sequencing platform. My work combines computational data analysis, next generation sequencing, protein biochemistry, and chemical biology.After receiving my 1st Class BSc degree in Biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh, I remained at the university to pursue a PhD under the supervision of Dr Stephen Wallace. During my PhD, my enthusiasm for applied biotechnology continued to grow, leading me to pursue a career in industrial biotechnology.

For summer in between third and fourth year (and during free time book-ending this summer) I worked as a member of the University of Edinburgh undergraduate iGEM team for 2017. Our work revolved around designing and testing a toolbox of Site-Specific Recombinases (SSRs) to facilitate genetic engineering in biotechnology.
