My role involves course design and management, recruitment, staff training, observations and delivering the Birmingham City University (BCU) internal English Proficiency Test (EPT) which mirrors that of IELTS. Most importantly, I lead a team of thirteen people, specialising in managing the complex organisational and administrative requirements of delivering three different majors: Landscape Architecture, Visual Communication and Digital Media Technology, all to UK higher education standards. BIFCA operates as a dual honour programme whilst also allowing students to start their degree in Wuhan and then transfer to the UK for their final two years. During my tenure as department head, we have acted as a successful bridge between China and the UK for hundreds of students, all while designing and refining programmes with a complex set of requirements, often in the context of shifting learning outcomes and assessment criteria. As a Teaching Fellow, I was responsible for administrating and delivering a range of course materials, from instructional design through to implementation and delivery. This included project managing a rapid shift to digital learning platforms at the outset of the pandemic. As a result of my strong, consistent performance over several years, with positive feedback, I was promoted to department head in 2021.
