I believe in learning through nature and finding ways that progression can be accomplished in the most efficient and least harmful ways. By studying the social and environmental geography of our interactions with nature, I hope to bring new ideas for development that can be sustained for future generations. I am an avid outdoorsman and musician with a great fascination for improvisation and creativity. Through effective communication and a positive outlook there are endless possibilities for success and shared happiness. I come from a small mountain town in northern California called Mt. Shasta. Although I was born and lived the first 8 years of my life in the San Francisco bay area, the opportunities to experience nature and interact with people in a rural community setting have helped shape who I am today. I moved to Canada in 2010 to attend Simon Fraser University and currently reside in Burnaby with a post graduate work permit following the completion of my Bachelor's degree.I have been privileged to travel and work with many kinds of people through volunteer work and connections abroad. My academic interests include GIS and Remote Sensing, forest and watershed management, agriculture and renewable energy. My hobbies include backcountry skiing, musical performance and composition (jazz, funk, hip-hop, and reggae), canoeing, climbing, backpacking, brewing beer, and making cheese.
