Working on Astute Class Nuclear Submarines for BAE Systems. Building, joining and outfitting blocks of boat 4,5,6 and 7. Welding mainly fluxcore Mig process on thicknesses of carbon steel ranging from 6 - 100mm thick. Working to strict procedures to a very high standard. Inline with strict hotwork/confined space/nuclear protocols.

Structural Welder

Fluxcore (FCAW) / Solid Wire Rooting M.I.G / Stick Welding (SMAW) / Arc Air Gouging duties on projects for various oil and gas clients such as AMEC, WOOD GROUP and Shell. Mainly welding on heavy steel fabrication lifting point crucifixes for Offshore decommissioning of Brent Delta. New build/Rig extensions and Rig repair in fabrication shop or Quayside aboard rig.

Welding for BiFab building various offshore Topsides and Jackets for Premier Oil (Solan) and GDF. A range of welding with GTAW,SMAW, SAW and FCAW process including (MAG) metal wire rooting. From various heavy/light walled pipe welds, pipe to plate welds, heavy/light plate butts and fillet welds in all positions and various plate thickness's. Various sub arc jobs using carts and booms. Deck plates and heavy walled cans (up to 100mm thick) ranging from diameters of 500mm – 3000mm internally and externally

SMAW (Stick Welding)/ Oxy-Fuel Burning and Gouging/ Fitting and welding sea fastenings aboard Helix Well Enhancer. Working to fixed schedules and complying with Vessel safety procedures, hot work permits and risk assessments.

Served my apprenticeship as a welder working with Babcock Marine at Rosyth dockyard for 4 years and continued to work on after gaining a vast knowledge of ship building,refits and repairs working with light and heavy steel/alloy fabrications:Nuclear Submarine Refits.(HMS Dreadnought,Renoun)Type 43 Frigate Refits.(HMS Campbeltown,Argyle,Kent)Aircraft Carrier Refit. (HMS Illustrious)Syncrolift - QEC Units, Block and Sponson builds.Dry Dock - New QEC Superblock Aircraft carrier build and Join up.As well as my SVQ level 3 Apprenticeship with Babcock, i gained an HNC Fabrication,welding and inspection through day release at college. I also placed top 3 in inter-yard Shipweld competition which included all MOD Shipyard apprentice welders in the UK.
