I began my career as a Navy Cryptologist in 1990, then went on to college, and into the work force. The early years were less exciting, but as I matured and grew professionally, better opportunities opened to me. My military experience got me a job with SAIC in New Orleans working for Entergy. After Hurricane Katrina, the technology boom in Gulf Coast picked up speed. It was during this time, after a decade or so in the corporate world, that I moved toward smaller companies.By this time, the breadth of knowledge I had was significant and it was nice to be able to use more of what I knew. Smaller companies gave me opportunities I'd have not likely gotten in the corporate world. My time with smaller companies soon gave way to starting my own company. I suspended Valence Tech Solutions to work at the Deepwater Horizon Economic Claims Center (DHECC). helping manage the organization that was distributing funds to communities that were impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill was very gratifying. It was an opportunity to do IT work that benefited the community in real and tangible ways. It lent a sense of real-world impact to the work that I hadn't experienced since being in the military.While working at DHECC I got married and it was time to leave New Orleans for distant shores. My new family and I moved onto a 37 foot sailboat for a few years. Finally running aground in Morehead City, North Carolina. We've made it our home while my son attends the Aquaculture Program at Carteret Community College. My wife is a board member of Carteret Writers and we volunteer at the Beaufort Historical Society. I volunteer at the Beaufort Maritime Museum when I can; helping maintain a small fleet of boats. I am always on the lookout to put my skills and experience to work helping the community in whatever ways I can. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I appreciate it.
