Leading a multidisciplinary research program into the seismic hazard of the southern South Island of New Zealand as part of Toka Tū Ake Earthquake Commission University Research Program. The results of this research will inform future seismic hazard models for this region, and elsewhere in New Zealand and beyond. Key components of this research include:-Paleoseismic trench investigations on the Nevis-Cardrona and Settlement Fault to improve our understanding of their late Quaternary earthquake history.-Deployment of a temporary (12 month) dense seismic array to provide new insights into the spatial-temporal distribution of microseismicity in Southland-Testing and comparison of seismicity rate models for Otago, including models from the 2022 New Zealand National Seismic Hazard Model-New active fault map for the Southland region that encompasses a recently released dataset that provides near complete lidar coverage for this region.

I led the development of a new probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) for Malawi by integrating data from geology, geodesy, past seismicity, and ground motion models. This PSHA illustrates the need for considering a multidisciplinary dataset when evaluating seismic hazard in East Africa, where population growth and development are rapidly increasing exposure to seismic hazard.

My research delved into the world of active faulting in Malawi. From considering high resolution digital elevation models, fieldwork, and microstructural analysis, new insights were made into the spatial distributions of its active faults, and how their growth and orientation are shaped by pre-existing geologic fabrics.

Bergen Area, Norway

Working in exploration I interpretated 3D seismic data with Landmark to evaluate hydrocarbon prospectivity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in a group project. This allowed me to gain invaluable experience of working in a major oil company and built on a previous placement at Statoil in the summer of 2012
