Coordinated communication, testing, and debugging between the admin system upgrade team and PolySystems to ensure we would be able to perform monthly close activities after the upgrade.

Work with the Office of Financial Solvency to help determine whether domestic life insurers are conducting business according to actuarial principals and in accordance with state law. Duties included: * Yearly review of Statement of Actuarial Opinion and Annual Statement for approximately 50 domestic life insurers, focusing on reasonable reserve levels, business practices, and operational trends. * Periodic financial examination of domestic life insurers, including review of all actuarial liabilities and independent calculation of statutory reserves. * Quarterly valuation of companies in receivership, including calculation of reserves and non-forfeiture benefits. * Verification of the accuracy and appropriateness of actuarial illustrations in new policy form filings. * Analyzing the financial impact of proposed insurance laws and presenting conclusions to the Legislative Fiscal Office.

Calculated retirement benefits for multiple classes of employees in Louisiana’s second largest retirement system. Duties included:* Primary analyst for the benefits of state university employees, the most complicated member class in the system.* Creation and maintenance of automated letters and worksheets to assist other RBAs in their work. * Regularly providing customer service to our members by fielding phone calls as well as occasionally taking walk-in appointments. * Other special technical projects as needed, due to knowledge of the system’s mainframe and MS Query.
