About Jack Beck

I have 20 years of experience in supporting nonprofits to scale up and amplify their impact in the fields of health, social justice, and community development. For the last 10 years I served as the Founder and Executive Director of TurnOut, a statewide organization that supports volunteers and board members working with LGBTQ+ nonprofits. In that time, we recruited more than 8,000 volunteers across California to support more than 250 nonprofits serving queer and trans communities within the state and beyond. We also developed and implemented TurnOut's suite of Queer Board programs, which match, train, and mentor queer and trans leaders to serve on nonprofit boards. I currently serve as TurnOut's Board Chair, as well as Executive Director of the newly founded SF Street Fair Coalition. At TurnOut we are expanding our services to cover a wide range of needs for small grassroots organizations, from fundraising support to administrative operations. If you'd like to work together, please get in touch!

TurnOut powers intersectional movements for mutual aid and liberation. We work to ensure communities have the knowledge, tools, and support we need to create the world we want to live in. This includes coalition-building, upskilling in skills for effective movement work, and providing structures for grassroots organizations to maximize their stability and impact. A core part of this work is providing a shared staffing structure for smaller organizations to access part-time staff support around administration, fundraising, and other core needs without having to pay for a full-time employee or expensive contractors or consultants.
