TurnOut mobilizes communities to power queer and trans movements. TurnOut supports thousands of volunteers and board members working with more than 250 LGBTQ+ nonprofits across the state of California.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:Founded and built the organization from an idea into a successful fully-staffed statewide organization with an annual budget of $400,000.Led development and implementation of TurnOut's volunteer program, which has recruited more than 8,000 volunteers across California to support more than 250 nonprofits serving queer and trans communities within the state and beyond.Led development and implementation of TurnOut's suite of Queer Board programs: Queer Board Match (a community-wide event that connects participating nonprofits with an average of 7 new board candidates per event); and Queer Board Catalyst (a 6-week training program that increases nonprofit board members’ self-reported level of preparedness for Board service from an average of 3.4/10 to 7.8/10).Secured funded partnerships with government agencies, including the California Governor's Office to expand TurnOut's programs statewide and the County of Santa Clara to develop and implement a local program to connect volunteers with isolated queer and trans elders.Wrote successful grants to secure funding from the Roddenberry Foundation, Horizons Foundation, Californians for All, and others. Created a novel funding model to support the organization's growth by providing contracted volunteer management services to the largest LGBTQ+ events in the state, including SF Pride, LA Pride, and Folsom Street Fair.Secured sponsorships from and provided trainings for major corporations, including Google, Gap, Deloitte, Yelp, Genentech, Robinhood, Merrill-Lynch, and Splunk.Built and managed TurnOut's internal administrative apparatus, including handling all HR matters, bookkeeping, and financial tracking and reports.
