Used Trello as a project management tool for myself and undergraduate researchers working on the project. Responsible for conducting mechanical testing and healing efficiency studies to characterize multiple self-healing material formulations. Performed statistical data analysis and referenced mechanical test data against literature data of real human tissues. Built a custom Direct Ink Write (DIW) 3D Printer and performed 3D prints of these self-healing materials. Used the Hansen Solubility Parameters to optimize ink formulations (solvent blends) and rheological properties for processing. Achieved goal of fabricating self-healing synthetic tissue specimens via DIW that mimic the properties of various human tissues. This project was successful and Triton Systems was awarded a Phase III extension en route to commercialization. Show less

The air duct was used to environmentally condition critical imaging and sensor technology in-flight. The legacy manufacturing process was a hand-laid composite process which resulted in dimensional errors and long lead times due to the post processing required. The goal of this project was to transfer the manufacturing process and material selection to reduce the manufacturing lead time and increase dimensional fidelity. This was achieved by validating Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) of a high temperature thermoplastic. ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Fluent simulations were conducted to justify the performance of the new thermoplastic material compared to composite. Additionally, design for manufacturing changes were addressed as needed by the new process. The duct was successfully prototyped and passed all functional testing, validating the new material and process for Collins Aerospace. Show less
