Worked on Kamoa-Kakula, the joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines, Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the world’s largest, undeveloped, high-grade copper discovery. Reporting directly to the Mine Manager, Johan Van Der Riet, my duties included GPS survey mapping, decline sinking, explosive priming and firing (ANFO, Boosters, Emulsion), Roof Sealing and Cable bolting, Grouting (Shotcrete), Polypipe welding and installation and Drill core logging.

Worked within the business office supporting mine planning and design activity, including pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of the Company’s African assets. Also worked on Trade-off studies, Mine Method choice, Geotechnics and Ventilation. Onsite for the early-works construction for Shaft 2 of the Platreef SA platinum-palladium-gold-nickel-copper project in Limpopo, South Africa.
