The "MIT" (Manager in Training) program at Marcus is one that allows the individual to rotate through various areas of the overall hotel operation and choose a few areas to focus on more in-depth. My two primary focuses were Revenue Management, where I spent a month, and Human Resources where I spent a total of 5 months. In Revenue Management, some of the things I was responsible for were: creating SWOT Analyses against comp sets, seeking out new businesses for the hotel to try and gain business, analyzing pace reports, and creating booking reports. In HR, I was in charge of recruiting and acquiring new talent for the 950-employee property as well as setting up and attending job fairs. I would also field any employment questions that associates or managers would have. In this role, I have gained critical skills in recruiting, process management, development, interviewing, resume review, and training.
