Acting almost exclusively for utility companies, I was involved in a variety of infrastructure projects of varying scale. The principle client was National Grid and their various subsidiaries including Gas, Electric and Carbon. The larger projects were considered Nationally Signigicant Infrastructure Projects and included the Humber Carbon Capture and Storage Project and the North West Coast Connections Project. Other tasks included settling compensation claims, mapping, referencing and procuring rights.

The Buccleuch Group is the organisation responsible for all of the business interests of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch. The company is a forward thinking organisation with roots set in the Scottish countryside. The land based element of the Buccleuch Group is set amongst four rural estates which totals some 240,000 acres. My placement year was based on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire, the largest of the four rural estates, covering approximately 90,000 acres. Assisting with the reletting of the former in-hand farms was the principle task during my employment. Other responsibilities were based upon the day to day management of the let agricultural and residential portfolio.
