In my previous role as Global Manager of Business & Finance, I served as one of the senior leaders of Reed Smith’s Client Value Team (CVT). Under the supervision of the Global Director, I lead a group of Managers and Analysts in delivering the full spectrum of Client Value services to the firm’s Business & Finance Department. This included in part:• Fee Arrangements: a core function of the CVT is the pricing of legal services. The role included advanced knowledge of law firm pricing strategies, including AFA modelling and value-based arrangements. Working with the team’s Pricing Managers to ensure Business & Finance group members have the requisite pricing skills. • Fee Management: a core function of the CVT is assisting lawyers and clients with legal project management. The role requires remit for advanced legal project management skills and the proper rigor to apply to any given legal matter, to ensure best results. Additionally, I serve as the Business & Finance group’s LPM mentor, and defining best practices.• Value Communication: a critical component of pricing and project management is communicating the value of these activities. My current role requires assisting Reed Smith’s attorneys to understand the importance of pricing and project management, and with presenting value propositions and value-added services to external contacts.In collaboration with the Business & Finance Department Chair, the role oversees department-wide, exemplary client service through advanced matter management and client management (across 28 offices). As a GM, the role required that I understand the firm’s business goals and support lawyers in value-added services to clients. This included analysing financial data, creating Excel-based financial reports, utilising project management methodologies and tools, and building client communication tools.

The Client Value Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of all pricing and matter management functions in the EMEA region. Developed technical documentation to improve the efficiency of the training process for new members of staff, which also freed up managements time from spending man hours training.Presented and proposed a power-saving initiative to senior management that had major environmental benefits as well as saving the constabulary tens of thousands of pounds. The project was given the green light and rolled out after my time there.Led the South County communications upgrade project, successfully managing the rollout on time and within budget. This included the upgrade of over 200 devices, with a team of 3, in the space of 30 working days, in a geographical area greater than 500 square miles.Provided high standard of customer facing assistance and support, including the day-to-day maintenance of client systems and servers.
