I have worked in secondary education since completing my postgraduate degree in 2012. After almost 10 years in a large secondary school in Wakefield, where I taught KS3 & KS4 French & Spanish and where I was one of the school’s Strategic Leads for Knowledge, a Lead Practitioner and Assistant Team Leader for MFL; I decided I needed a change!In January 2021 I became the MFL Curriculum Leader in a large secondary academy in Huddersfield, with a view of revamping the curriculum, whilst supported by a wonderful team of MFL specialists. Over a period of almost two academic years, I led the department in a complete revamp of the KS3 curricula & made adaptations to the KS4 curricula, and our interventions, which saw a significant increase in pupil outcomes; French P8= -0.35 (2021) vs +0.4 (provisional 2023), Spanish P8= -0.9 vs +0.14.More recently, I have accepted a position as an MFL Teacher at Honley High School, so that I am able to be at home more for my young family.
