Using my knowledge and network across I&TS, my job was to analyse all operational data to understand what drives performance on behalf of the COO. This includes:- Defining and reviewing metrics- Providing statistical analytical support to senior leaders - sometimes on Tableau, other times report writing. - Identifying areas (macro level) to be improved - leading projects (micro level) to improve individual operational processes. Examples of this include working in Luxembourg to improve our Real Estate Fund Accounting service. In this role I also took part in RBCx - and eight week agile training program.

I completed four rotations, of six months each, in the following areas:- Operations (UK Settlement and CASS Oversight Reporting);- Marketing and Brand (including conducting market research using platforms such as Morningstar, preparing presentations and answering RFPs);- Trustee and Depositary Services (focused on REPE ESG funds); and - Securities Lending (Front Office support on the trading floor, using Bloomberg, Markit and Pirum).

After a successful internship, I was offered a place on the graduate scheme, which I subsequently completed and was promoted from before joining RBC. Skills gained include: - Cost modelling and cost analysis using SQL; - Global horizon scanning and trend analytics, focusing on the Middle East and Central Asia; - Logistics analysis and problem solving; - Policy interpretation and report writing; - Qualitative primary-level research; and - Managing a work strand of a large project, with two junior analysts reporting into me for this project.

The role as president of Queen Mary's Bright futures society is to coordinate events with Bright Futures investors on campus with the aim is to help students become more career focused by showing them some potential opportunities and giving them the tools to be able and achieve those.My role as a regional ambassador is to; be in regular contact with all of the societies across my region, to spread best practice, identify any issues as well as bring all the societies together to coordinate regional events.

Future Frontiers is a charity that provides one to one careers guidance to students at lower income schools across London with the goal of linking aspirations to academic success. I spent three months mentoring two students at an Academy in South London. This was a challenge as I had to focus on my professional appearance and be clear on what skills would be necessary in order for the two students to be successful. To do this, I had to be structured in my approach to the task and time management. During this process, I also had to use my l networks to put the students in contact with professionals to give specific advice on how to get into the relevant field.

Worked as an analyst in the Policy and Capability Studies department, as part of the Costs, Manning & Training team. In addition to cost analysis, I was able to work on a number of unique projects, including one of my own; where I examined the UK defence industry.

The crux of the role was to liaise with Bloomberg and Queen Mary careers, to organise Bloomberg Assessment Tests (BAT) on campus. Firstly, I identified potential student groups and then targeted and worked with the appropriate society presidents and course representatives to implement an effective marketing campaign. In addition to this, I worked with various societies to plan trips to Bloomberg's offices in order to raise their profile among Queen Mary students.

I spent some time after my summer exams on a placement that allowed me to work within three different areas; economics regulation, safety regulation and the legal department. This gave me the opportunity to apply what I had learnt in my first year of studies as well as seeing how private companies and other actors interacted with government policy - notably the EU.
