In this role I worked on two high profile, large scale disputes projects.The first was a voluntary remediation project for a UK bank in relation to SME customers. The project investigated complaints regarding the terms and conditions of bank lending, complex lending structures, relationship management issues, insolvency processes, property sales and pricing issues. Responsibilities included:• Attending decision making meetings with senior stakeholders at the client.• Analysing complex banking arrangements and reviewing the variety of lending instruments.• Reviewing and assessing large volumes of evidence including bank correspondence, internal records and facility agreements.• Formulating an opinion on the outcome of a complaint based on the evidence I reviewed and presenting this opinion to the bank.• Using Ringtail eDiscovery Software. • Drafting a detailed report of the bank’s decisions for the complainant.• Liaising with a range of stakeholders within the project.• Managing my own case load and working to tight deadlines.The second was a project defending Payment Protection Insurance mis-sale and unfair commission (Plevin) claims that had been filed against a major European bank. Responsibilities included: • Assessing claims and identifying matters that could be taken to trial• Drafting court documentation including defences and witness statements • Responding to Data Subject Access Requests• Instructing counsel to appear at pre trial hearings and trials• Negotiating settlements of claims• Taking client instructions and managing expectations with regards to individual claims• Managing a large case load and working to strict deadlines

Disputes and Investigations team • In this role within the Taylor Wessing Disputes and Investigations department I worked as part of a team made up of two partners, three associates and a trainee on a matter of professional negligence for a large accounting firm regarding its yearly audit of a well-known company.• Analysed and evaluated communications and complex financial reports between the accountancy firm and the company it was auditing. • Liaised with counsel and team members, summarising the details of complex financial reporting matters and evidence found during discovery.• Observed and took notes during interviews with key witnesses.• Worked with team members to meet deadline targets.• Prepared reports and bundles of evidence for the Financial Reporting Council.• Conducted legal research.• Using Relativity eDiscovery Software.
