Mr. Hewitt is a Partner in McCarter & English's Business & Financial Services Litigation Practice Group. He is a seasoned attorney skilled in representing major investment banks and wire houses, and senior officers of these firms, in SEC and FINRA enforcement investigations and civil, criminal and administrative enforcement actions involving violations of federal securities laws. Representative matters have involved virtually every aspect of these laws including equity and fixed-income trading, net capital, margin, insider trading and registration issues. Mr. Hewitt also advises and counsels firms in these areas, and is considered an authority on electronic technology, equity trading and fixed-income trading. He has written -- and advised on the writing of -- compliance and supervisory procedural manuals, and has assisted in developing compliance measures to implement these procedures.In addition, Mr. Hewitt has written extensively on the regulation of electronic technology in the securities markets, including a series of articles for the New York Law Journal, and has co-chaired and spoken at numerous seminars on the topic. He is the co-editor and an author of Securities Practice & Electronic Technology, a treatise that addresses every facet of the use and regulation of electronic technology in the securities markets, and the author of the "Record Keeping" and "Advertising" chapters of the PLI Broker-Dealer Regulation treatise. Mr. Hewitt is the 1998 recipient of the Financial Netnews Internet Compliance Person of the Year award, was a participant in the Securities and Exchange Commission's roundtable discussions on internet issues, and is listed in the International Who's Who of e-Commerce Lawyers.Mr. Hewitt was formerly a Senior Vice President/Associate General Counsel with Lehman Brothers, and a Senior Counsel with the SEC's Division of Enforcement.
